Saxony is one of the 16 German federal states and is located in the east of Germany.
Geography: Saxony is located in the east of Germany and borders on Poland and the Czech Republic. The capital is Dresden. The landscape is very varied, offering both mountains and lowlands.
Culture: The former monarchs of Saxony left many impressive buildings and art collections. These include historic buildings such as the Zwinger or Moritzburg Palace and treasures such as the Old Masters Picture Gallery, where you will find important paintings such as the Sistine Madonna.
Economy: Saxony's economy is the fastest growing in Germany. The main industries include microelectronics, biotechnology, IT industry and crafts.
